Lokum
Lokum came in as a puppy with her mom and sibling.
She’s an intelligent, high-energy dog.
Very fast, playful, and doesn’t tire easily.
Off-leash, she’s close to perfect.
Strong recall, good control over her impulses, and generally very aware of her environment.
On leash — different story.
She has little to no leash experience and reacts to the restriction.
She’s not a fearful dog, but a very sensitive one indeed.
We worked through some early issues, and she’s now coping well and is much more stable.
With other dogs, she prefers calm, confident energy.
She can tolerate more chaotic dogs in smaller doses, but she’s not the type that wants to be everyone’s best friend. Growing up mostly with her mom (Cindy) and sibling (Milly), she didn’t really learn broad social skills outside of her own little group. Because of that, she still has some learning to do when it comes to playful, relaxed interactions with unfamiliar dogs.
That being said, she communicates incredibly clearly.
She’s one of the easiest dogs here to read. Honest body language, clear boundaries, very emotionally transparent. She has genuinely taught me a lot about reading dogs better.
I think Lokum has a lot of potential socially, but she might never be the kind of dog that happily plays with every dog she meets like a Golden Retriever at daycare. And honestly, that’s okay. Not every dog needs to be endlessly social to be balanced.
She just needs the right setup to stay balanced.
What she needs:
space and movement
structure (especially around leash work)
someone who can match her energy without amplifying it
She’s a strong, capable dog. With a ridiculous love for water and swimming.
Definitely not complicated — but not passive either.
If you give her direction, she’ll work with you.
✿ She is neutered and fully vaccinated.
