Poppy

Poppy was dumped as a baby — because in rural Turkey, there is an understanding that male dogs are “useful” and females are “trouble.”

She grew up with dogs, not people. So she never really learned boundaries, timing, or how to read the room.

She runs on love. That’s the good part.
The problem is — she has no self-regulation.

She gets too excited, pushes too far, misses signals, and ends up in trouble.
She’s been on the receiving end of more than a few corrections from the other dogs because of that — and still doesn’t fully get it.

And yet… she keeps choosing softness.
No grudges. No withdrawal.

She’s never had fear-based issues, and aggression isn’t what we’re working through with her.
From what I’ve read and observed, it’s very similar to ADHD-type patterns— repetitive behaviors, too much energy, too much emotion, all going in the wrong direction.

Not a lack of intelligence — the opposite. Just never learned the correct way to channel it.

She’s not a difficult dog in the way people would expect.
She’s difficult because she doesn’t know where to stop.

What she needs is:

  • structure

  • consistency

  • someone who won’t reward chaos but won’t shut her down either

This is not a “she’ll figure it out on her own” situation. We tried that, didn’t work.

If you can guide her properly with patience and understanding, trust me, she’ll meet you with everything she has.

✿ She is neutered and fully vaccinated.
